Critique, certainly. I understand taking news or social media to task in the way in which teenage girls are portrayed, but I don’t understand how there can be “too many” of anything when it comes to art. I’m all for creating the stories you want to see but suggesting that writers write something other than what they’re inspired to write doesn’t make for good fiction. And I suppose there’s no accounting for taste. I for instance see Kathy Acker’s characters as heroines.
