Starting with Ty Segall, and all the different projects and collaborations he’s taken on in the last 8 or so years, should keep you busy. Scuzzy psych rock is enjoying a nice little revival as well; a musician based in Boston put together a nice little comp of some cool bands back east ( Really, as far as I can tell, women are currently dominating underground rock. Kim & the Created, Deap Vally, and Le Butcherettes are a few shining examples. It doesn’t end either. In L.A., where I cover shows, new/renovated venues are popping up all over and there still isn’t enough room to stuff all these garage bands in. Not to mention all the urban fests. For the first time in a long time, it seems rock is sustaining itself without having to rely on the mainstream. Thanks for reading and enjoy the tunes!
